code name: jonny GITMO... Station Fire Slows Production As Casting Continues...

Somewhere in Southern California...

With casting for code name: jonny GITMO nearly complete, the next phase of production came to a smoky, screeching halt this past weekend in the ever-expanding shadow of the Southern California's Station Fire.

Location scouting.

With three locations already set for the fall shooting schedule have been damaged or lost altogether in just the last few days, and no other sites available for booking, it looks as if code name: jonny GITMO may have to go pirate.

Location, location, location.

Good thing the legal department works on retainer.

Not that it hasn't been done before - and on no budget. What the hell, Robert Rodriguez used to make everything look like he had no budget, so... (if you have a location you'd be interested in letting a few strangers come over for a few hours).

And the legal department tells me they have a plan to make sure nothing happens that they can't fix.

God bless lawyers, right?

Anyway, it looks like we're still on for mid September for first slate... somewhere...

The following article first appeared in the web publication Hollywood Adjacent, with minor changes.

Just announced today, the new indie webfilm, currently titled, code name: Jonny GITMO, will enter the pre-production phase of development the first week of August. With shooting anticipated to begin in the late fall and continue till the end of 2009, code name: Jonny GITMO is expected to be shot at various locations in and around the Los Angeles metropolitan area, and an already existing set somewhere in the city of Redondo Beach.

"I can't believe this is all happening so fast. One day, you're
writing for free on somebody's website, the next, someone wants you to make
a movie.

This is one crazy town."

As a service to fans anxious to follow the progress of the film, this blog will track the day-to-day business of the business of taking a writer's idea, and show you how it all comes together - right before your eyes.
